WILD CORRIDORS – LIVING WITH THE BEARDED VULTURES

In the south of France, between the Alps and the Pyrenees, scientists, associations, farmers and villagers have been working for nearly forty years to enable wildlife to reclaim a corridor almost 1,000 kilometres long. Over the decades, the presence of humans and their activities have led to the slow disappearance of several species in the area, including the bearded vulture, a vulture that is now at the heart of all concerns. The reintroduction of individuals, such as the very young female bearded vulture named Pyrenees, the elimination of obstacles to their flight, such as overhead power cables, or rewilding.
